Silicon Valley/ Industrial Technology Education Study

Data Synopsis

The 2002 study reveals in 1970/80 the Silicon Valley had 147 Technology Teachers teaching 735 sections of technology. Today that number is down to 33 teachers teaching only 165 sections of Technology. That is a 77.6% reduction in manufacturing related course offerings. That equates to 17,100 less students educated in manufacturing technology annually. Further extrapolation means 598,500 less technology trained graduates for the 2005 Silicon Valley workforce.
